According to a new study in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition, drinking pomegrante juice could increase the quality and quantity of your sperm.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of pomegranate juice (PJ) consumption on sperm quality, antioxidant activity and testosterone level of male healthy rats.

The pomegrante juice used in the study was 100% pure, pasteurised pomegranate juice (from Elite Natural Beverage Co., Ankara, Turkey.) -imagine what the results would have been like had the juice been REALLY natural and not pasteurised? I can only imagine a lot better.

Anyway, twenty-eight healthy adult male Wistar rats (eight weeks old) participated (without being asked) and were randomnly divided into four groups:

Only 1 mL distilled water was administered to rats in the first group, and they served as control.

0.25 mL Pomegranate Juice (PJ) plus 0.75 mL distilled water was given to rats in the second group, and named PJ-low.

The third group received 0.50 mL PJ plus 0.50 mL distilled water, and named PJ-middle.

Only 1 mL PJ was given to rats in the fourth group, and also named PJ-high.

Sperm concentration of rats in high dose PJ group was significantly higher than those in the low dose PJ group.

Testosterone levels and antioxidant activity in the rats treated with low, middle or high doses of PJ were similar to those of the control group. However, vitamin C activity in rats administered with high PJ compared to the low PJ and control group was significantly high.

By means of the antioxidant activity of the pomegranate juice, improvements observed in the sperm quality may be attributed to the prevention of excessive generation of free radicals. A noticeable reduction in abnormal sperm rate as well as an increase in sperm motility and concentration was observed in the PJ groups.

One could surmise that drinking or eating other natural foods high in antioxidant activity could have the same effect, if not better – imagine what effect broccoli has?

All of you wanting babies: make sure this is in your arsenal!

Please note, this article is based primarily upon my opinion and also various real life findings (e.g. emails from concerned readers, various forums and sites). Therefore I don’t have any “scientific” research to back these claims, however, the symptoms that occur to many are consistently recurrent. Remember, we don’t only have physical health to look after, we also have spiritual health which we need to tend to just as much! Most things in life have a benefit as well as some disadvantages. In some cases, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and in other cases the opposite is true; this is my opinion on this topic.

Yes, that’s right, I have chosen to write about a topic which is commonly perceived as taboo, though I know many will be intrigued and curious to read the information presented and learn the negative consequence of such an abhorrent practice.

So why am I writing this article?Well, mainly due to the fact that many uninformed individuals (no names) like to elucidate their opinions freely and willingly on this subject with very little to no knowledge whatsoever!

I have come across countless articles and opinions stating how masturbation is “…a healthy practice…”, the more I saw these false comments, the more I felt the need to correct this misconception!

If you don’t know what masturbation is, well then I’m very surprised.

Simply put, your having sex with yourself or more explicitly, with your hand!

Want a more concise explanation, pick up an encyclopedia or do a google search.

This is inherently against the natural disposition of man, don’t worry I’m not going to give a sermon!

I have read in the past how masturbation can be more addictive than heroin, now that is serous!

You can get your fix whenever and just about wherever!

You release the same chemical which makes you feel good when you take heroin (i.e. opioids), though in a lesser amount. (see this article: Internet Porn: Worse Than Crack?)

So what are the common effects of masturbation you ask?

Here’s a small list (though not an exhaustive one):

Fatigue

Lower back pain

Thinning hair/hair loss

Weak erection

Premature ejaculation

Groin/testicular pain

Concentration and memory problems

Sleep problems

This doesn’t mean that one shall experience all of these effects, though they are very common.

Did you know that every time you ejaculate, you lose approximately 3-5mg of zinc, that’s nearly a third of your RDA.

Zinc is one of the main minerals responsible for testosterone production, therefore less zinc, less testosterone etc.

I know some clever person out there is surmising that the same effects should occur when one has sexual intercourse, right?

Sorry to disappoint!

Apparently, when a man has sexual intercourse with a female, certain trace minerals and prostaglandins are absorbed from the female vaginal secretions which balance this effect!

Do you really want to be a one-minute man and look like an idiot when you are with your partner?

I thought not.

I advise those who masturbate regularly, to stop!

Eat some Oysters (very high in Zinc) and plenty of fruit and vegetables.Fast, for fasting diminishes one’s sexual desires, unless of course you can get married or something and keep busy, “For idle hands make work for…”!

Please don’t believe the fallacy that these so-called experts proclaim!Masturbation is not healthy and is quite detrimental to put it mildly!
