I spoke to a friend recently who had a very bad stomach ache, owing probably due to something he ate.
This reminded me of a similar situation I had experienced a few years ago.
Back in 2005, my family and I went on a holiday to Singapore.
As you can probably imagine, it was SO nice that we didn’t want to leave.
There was however a period where we all got mild food poisoning.
The day before we became ill, we were strolling through a mall and came across a shop that was selling raw honey. I became extremely excited as at that time it wasn’t easy to come by natural raw honey.
I wanted to buy all the honey I could and bring it back home – however unfeasible it was.
So we ended up buying 1kg of honey to “test”.
The next day my brother, father and I were extremely ill and were running back and forth from the bathroom.
Thankfully I remembered how honey was used many times to solve stomach problems and so my brother and I dived into the jar and literally overdosed ourselves (I’d say we had approximately 10 tsp each!).
Within an hour we were fine!
We told our father who was very reluctant and didn’t want to take it.
After seeing how quickly we became better, he had no choice but to take the honey, as you can imagine, once he did take the honey he was fine.
Many times I tell friends, family, random people the benefit of taking honey when having bad stomach aches and they just somehow ignore it.
My friend only took 1tsp, which obviously wasn’t enough as he was still in pain.
I hope after me reiterating that he should take more and probably having read this, he will have taken the point!

Definately
I love honey and especially for stomach problems or when I have a sore throat. Even in the Islamic holy book, the Qur’an, the health benefit of honey are mentioned:
“And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men’s) habitations; Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.” [Surat an-Nahl (The Bee) 68-69]
The only time I use hot water with honey is when I have a sore throat, it almost instantaneously fixes my throat.
I was just going to say how great honey is for a sore throat. I usually combined honey and lemons to fix my sore throat.
healthy intake, I do that too!
I squeeze a whole lemon into a cup and add a heaped teaspoon worth of raw honey.
Then I just mix and drink, very very beneficial!
I gave some to my dad when he was ill not to long ago and after having taken it, he asked for some more (he doesn’t like natural rememdies etc. so I was quite surprised!)
If it helps my dad, it can help anyone
I’m a firm believer in Raw Honey and was able to prove to myself ( and hopefully others)just how good it is!! Just the other day my daughter and partner had had a particularly potent stomach virus which I felt I was in for after baby sitting for my grandchild a couple of days previously .They both suffered for about 3 days. My stomach seemed to feel worse and worse as the day went on until at about 1pm in the morning I just knew I was going to be sick if I was ever going to get any sleep at all. During that day I’d had 5tsps of raw manuka honey instead of the usual 2 I had every day and instead of being sick I came over in the hottest sweat i’d ever had which lasted for about 10mins after which I felt much, much better!!! I swear I just sweated the virus out!!I was never sick & back at work the next day My other daughter has got it now and, as she DOESN’T believe in the healing benefits of honey, is really suffering!!!I wonder what my partner will do if he ever catches it?? Watch this space!!!
Thanks Jayne!
It’s hard to convince others of the miraculous nature of honey!
If only you could’ve been there when I was bugging my father to take some! lol!
Let us know how you manage to convince your partner + daughter.
Jayne,
Where do you get your raw manuka honey from?
When you say raw, I’m assuming you mean unheated, unfiltered etc., is that right?
Thanks.

Hi
I had a really sore tummy this last week and discovered that the symptoms were in fact a Peptic Ulcer. It was really sore! I researched and learnt that Manuka Honey (here in New Zealand) was a natural cure and did the same as you – overdosed on it and it has been a week and it is much better!
It is also a fabulous cure cos it doesn’t taste all yuck and has no side-effects!
Great!
Manuka honey is very good for stomach problems, i’ve had it in the past, but not too keen on the taste – i love my acacia honey
Wow so i have never even heard of honey having any sort of health benefit, but I’m just a 20 year old girl very much into home remedies and little health tricks and found this after looking for home remedies for stomach issues etc. because I suffer from IBS which yes I know is intestinal but it makes my stomach feel bad, kind of like i have indigestion or something. I tried this out and I’ve got to say I was feeling so tired, bloated and sluggish but just drinking that I have such a burst of energy. I know the sugar plays a part in that but my stomach feels so amazing right now, just completely settled, no sick or gross feeling. I just feel like I had a health boost and I love this! I will definitely keep the health benefits of honey in mind from now on, I can’t believe it took so long to see something like this.
great! Thanks.
Am from Singapore and first of all really glad you enjoyed your stay in our country
do you remember where you got that raw honey from when you were here? Like you said it’s difficult to find and I would love to know where I can find it. Was it expensive?
Thank you Ash.
I think it was in one of the shopping malls on Orchard Street – I think that’s the name of the street (nearer to the cinema side of Orchard Street).
Hope that helps.
wow It,s a great beat ! I am impressed to read it. Your thought and information is different. keep writing…
